Product Review of ProStrings as of March 21, 2004
By Richard M. (Dick) Raymond Jr.
Aka: GrandpawRichard

I have been using ProStrings Products on my bows for many months now and I feel that it is now time for a current report on my findings.

My PSE Quantum with a U1 cam was the very first bow to have the ProString Strings and cables installed on it. They were made out of 8125 material. This bow had already gone thru 3 sets of strings and cables on it before I installed the ProStrings; so I was in hopes that this product would be an improvement over the ones that I had previously used. My choice of material for the strings and cables was 8125.

I have been absolutely pleased with the ProStrings on this bow. In fact , I am still using the Original set. I have had to adjust the peep sight a total of 3 times now (in about 10 or 11 months of use). The first time was due to me not aligning it up properly to begin with. The other 2 times have been due to a slight bit of creeping and stretching.

The thing that amazes me about the ProStrings is that the servings are all still in perfect shape and showing absolutely No Sign of separation, especially where the string comes over the cam. This had been one of the problems with my first sets.

I am now noticing quite a bit of wear on my center serving at the nock area. I feel that it is due to shooting so many Turbo Nock equipped arrows off of it.

This bow has been shot so much that I know that there have been approximately 10,000 arrows go through it and this set of strings and cables. It was my main target bow for quite some time.

The second bow that I installed ProStrings on was my PSE GForce Target bow. This is a Dual cam bow. The cams are Maxis HL’s and it is one heck of a speed bow! The first time I shot the bow thru a chronograph I was amazed and Pleased to see that I had gained a total of 14 feet per second. Even though it didn’t need a boost in speed, it’s always nice to see improvements in performance due to equipment upgrades! These strings and cables are also made out of 8125 material.

This bow doesn’t get shot as much as it used to be, but so far I have not noticed any problems with peep alignment, draw length due to creep or stretch, or serving separation.

The Third bow that I installed ProStrings on was my brand new PSE Mach-11 target bow with Synergy Pro Cams. This bow shoots extremely well with these ProStrings on it. I gained 12 feet per second after installing the ProStrings, which made me feel really good because this bow is not a real barn burner, but it sure is accurate. Again, my choice of materials was 8125 due to the success that I have had with it on my other bows. As of today there has been No need to adjust the peep sight or draw length. The Servings look Factory Fresh.

Then came my PSE Mach-11 with Vector cams. I found that I gained about the same speed amount as the first Mach-11 and I suffered No Loss of Accuracy with these products. Again, my choice of materials was 8125 due to the success that I have had with it on my other bows.

I have also installed a ProString on a PSE Team Fitzgerald Hunting bow , and a PSE Millennium Target bow. These products were again 8125 material. I gained a little speed with them and I have not had to do a single adjustment to them yet.

My PSE Millennium Hunting bow with Maxis HL cams, has TS1 strings and cables installed on it. I haven’t had a lot of time to shoot this bow, but I did notice a speed gain of about 15 to 16 feet per second on this bow. But I also noticed that I gained a little bit of draw weight and noise after installing the new strings. I also notice that the TS1 has a tendency to fuzz up a little bit. This is a trait that I don’t really care for, but it a minor disappointment. The speed gain is a major plus with this bow!

In a few weeks I’ll be ordering a set of ProStrings for the PSE Spyder with Vector cams, that I bought for my Grandchildren to shoot. I haven’t decided which material to order the ProStrings made out of D75, 8125 or TS1. I personally feel that this little bow will definitely gain some much needed performance just from the addition of ProStrings. Most Likely it will be 8125 material.

The following links are to photos of a ProString Serving on a homemade device to test for serving separations. Please notice how tight I wrapped the servings around the screws. You will also notice there is No Serving Separations!

I also show people how tight the servings are by wrapping them around a 16 penny nail and then make a sawing motion with them. Everyone that I have shown this demonstration has been totally impressed with the results. If the servings can stand up to this kind of abuse, they can stand up to just about any cams on the market!

As far as I am concerned, I personally feel that ProStrings are The Finest Set of Strings and Cables on the Market! Especially when you look at the price of them and then look at their quality. They are second to None! I plan on continuing to use ProStrings on every bow that I own for many years to come!

There are some people that will say that I am Biased because I am on the ProString Archery Shooters Staff, am I say “if the ProStrings weren’t as good a product as I am saying they are, I would be shooting with another brand of Strings and Cables in a heartbeat! I won’t use inferior strings and cables on my bows! I have too much to loose!

If you would like to try a set of ProStrings to see if they are what I am reporting them to be is accurate, then give Shel at ProString Archery a call and order a set. You have Nothing to Loose except for your doubts. Shel stands behind his product with a 30 day warranty!
